Since this project was split up over Colab, I very much forgot to do anything about for about 4 weeks. Skip forward to the second of the two weeks and I needed an Idea and to get some recordings. I started with the idea of Glasgow at night and mindmapped that to see what I would need to record.

I then started to think about what this would look like in real life when capturing sounds.

At this point it was Tuesday afternoon and I had nothing recorded, so that night I headed out with a zoom H1 at about 1am with a rough list of sounds I wanted in my head. I still didnt know what story I wanted to tell however I new it would centre around a core genre of sound: Clubs, Bars, Smoking area, taxis and traffic, dark alley ways etc.
I headed down the west end of suachihall street and started recording all types of sounds outside nice n sleazy, broadcast and that type of area. Turns out one of the bounces at Nice n Sleazy studied sound design so that helped… he may make an appearance.
By the end of the night I had over 80 clips, ranging from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. Wednesday was spent going through them and noting the best ones, what they are and how I may use them. This looked a little like this.

This took about 4 hours, would have taken half the time but Nick was feeling extra chatty that day…
Thursday, and it was time to put it all together. Still not really sure what story i wanted to tell, I knew that it was going to be a journey, along the lines of getting back from the bar. However, this seemed far too simple and I wanted to take this in more creative direction. I knew that I wanted to avoid the cliche horror audio style, instead trying to make it creepy. It would start with sound from inside the bar, leaving, walking past everyone outside and down an alley where I would experience some type of audio hallucinations and finally end with me making it back to my flat where it it would all be calm.

Audition was surprisingly more intuitive than I thought it would be, however the effects where not. A lot of my tracks have effects on them that are not serving their intended purpose, but I think it works.
It’s taken about 5 hours but I think I am nearly there.
After a lot of messing about, mixing, remixing and messing it up I have come to a final of sorts. I began to export but it estimated about a 1hr 45mins so Ill do it tomorrow and play it at the review within audition.
Overall a really fun project, more fun than I thought I’d have especially with how burnt out I felt after Colab. Looking forward to working with sound again, and learning more about making interactive sound as well as working with multiple channels sounds very fun
